Yesterday Today and Tomorrow

The present is a byproduct of the past.
Yesterday's future arrived anew today.
The message becomes clearer,
In every closing and opening of my eyes,
the assuring hand of time brings changes
momentarily daily, turning new into old,
bringing me closer to the end
of this life of passing fancy.

“Concern yourself with tomorrow
with the guidance of history;
With gratitude, strive to be truly happy,
endeavor not for the uncertain future
that is temporary and you may never see.
Seek that which is eternal, be real;

Like God and love, you are forever.”

Thus again from within, echoed from the past,
I hear the teaching of Time: Omkara; the Name
that kept me in this chaotic span at peace.

In this world of chaos,
I truly long for peace;
a state that I can only reach
by winning the war within me;
Oh Krishna, that is easy,
just chant Your holy names!
But do I really want to win this war?
Do I truly want to leave this place?

Unfortunates are not attracted to piety.
Even with "the light" I'm lost.
"The spirit indeed is willing,
but the flesh is weak."
